Celebrating our 15th Year - program

On March 27th, the Centre for Health Care Ethics officially celebrated its 15th year with a special Encounters in Bioethics session and awards presentation.  A reception followed.

  • The CHCE Milestone Award for Outstanding Service was presented to Jaro Kotalik, MA, MD, FRCPC.  This award recognizes a member of CHCE who has advanced the mission and development of the CHCE in a lasting and significant way through extraordinary forms of volunteerism.
  • The CHCE Milestone Award for Bioethics Leadership was presented to Cynda Rushton, PhD, RN, FAAN.  This award recognizes an established bioethicist who has made an outstanding contribution to the discipline of Health Care Ethics through significant research, publications, educational and leadership endeavours.


Principled moral outrage:
An antidote to moral distress?

Maintaining integrity in ethically challenging situations may invoke moral distress and moral outrage.  Dr. Rushton will explore ways to move from unregulated moral outrage to regulated, principled actions in order to restore one's integrity and avoid unintended consequences.
